Conference location
The 24th GDGSA conference will take place at Memorial Union (800 Langdon St, Madison, WI 53706, United States). It is located on the south shore of Lake Mendota on the campus of the University of Wisconsin–Madison.
Getting to Madison, WI
To/From Dane County Regional Airport
The closest airport is Dane County Regional Airport (MSN). The airport is located only about six miles from the downtown Madison and UW campus area, and both public bus and taxi service are available. If you do choose to rent a car, check with your hotel directly about parking availability.
To/From Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport
Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport (MKE) is located about 85 miles from the downtown Madison and UW campus area. Badger Bus offers four to six daily services between downtown Madison and the airport. You can also rent a car.
To/From Chicago
If you arrive in Chicago, you can take the Van Galder bus from downtown Chicago or from O’Hare International Airport. There are normally ten to twelve daily departure times, and the trip takes 3.5-4 hours.
Getting around Madison, WI
- Walking: State Street is the main route from the Capitol to campus and has a lot of restaurants and shops. It is closed to vehicle traffic except buses.
- Biking: Madison is very bike-friendly. If you’d like to rent a bike to use while you’re here, check out Madison B-Cycle to take advantage of stations across the city.
- Buses: The local bus is relatively inexpensive at $2 per one-way trip ($5 day pass). Routes 80, 81, 82, and 84 run through the campus and are free of charge. See the bus routes and schedules here.
